We sincerely apologise to affected shoppers. We did not meet our own standards, and we are taking every step necessary to rectify the situation.

Our priority remains the health and wellbeing of consumers and their pets.

Why are we recalling these products?

Following the recent theft of condemned dry pet food that had been sent to a wastemanagement facility in eastern Gauteng for destruction, and its subsequent resale on the informal market, RCL FOODS initiated spot checks on products in the formal retail sector.

These inspections have revealed that certain batches manufactured during the affected period, which may be contaminated with Salmonella and were designated for destruction, have nonetheless been found in the formal trade. At this stage, we are not aware of any animals or people having been affected.

All other Catmor products manufactured outside of the listed expiry dates are safe for sale and consumption.

What is Salmonella?

Salmonella is a well-recognised food and feed safety pathogen capable of surviving in dry-processing environments, that can cause illness in cats and humans.

If your cat shows any signs of illness after consuming dry cat food, cat owners should consult their veterinarian promptly. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling catfood is the most important step in preventing potential transmission to people.

What to do if you have an affected pack:

Stop feeding the product to your cat or any other animals.
Do not donate or sell the product.
Bag the product
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the product.
Return it to the store where you purchased it from for a full refund or replacement.

Please contact our consumer care team should you need further assistance in determining if your product is affected.
